Abstract:
This is the third volume of the collected diaries of Khalil al Sakakini, published in Ramallah by the Institute of Jerusalem Studies, and the Sakakini Cultural Centre. The volume covers the first period of British rule in Palestine (1919-1922), a critical moment in Palestinian and Arab history, marking the end of Ottoman rule, and the beginning of the implementation of the Balfour Declaration. It also witnessed the intensification of Jewish migration and colonial settlement in Palestine. The Memoirs were a living contemporary record of these events as witnessed by the author.
