Abstract: 

This book consists of two main sections: the first provides a detailed overview of events in southern Lebanon over the past half century, and the second discusses Israeli plans for withdrawal from southern Lebanon as well as UN Security Council Resolution 425. The book’s appendices include the central documents pertaining to the conflict in southern Lebanon and three maps.

Mahmoud SOUEID is the Senior Advisor of the Institute for Palestine Studies (IPS) and editor in chief of Majallat al-Dirasat al-Filastiniyah. He was General Manager of the Institute from 1982 to 2015.
