Abstract:

The main features of the Israeli project to construct a canal linking the Mediterranean with the Dead Sea are presented in this work, which relies on Hebrew sources. The chapters are divided as follows: historical background to the project; development of various variations on the original plan; topographical and technical characteristics of the course of the canal, as officially determined by the Israeli government; economic, political, and strategic dimensions of the project; and Israel’s aims and objectives in pursuing the project. The book demonstrates the grave dangers that the project poses for the occupied Arab territories, Arab projects in the Dead Sea, and for Palestinian rights in general.
