About the Author(s)

A Palestinian Israeli Druze lawyer and graduate of the Hebrew University and the American University, Washington, D.C., Usama HALABI, a conscientious objector, refused to serve in the Israeli military and served in consequence two years in prison. From 1991 to 1996 he directed the legal department of the Quaker Legal Aid and Information Center in East Jerusalem. Since 1996 he has been in private practice, handling human and civil rights related cases.
