Abstract:

This work is devoted to an analysis and examination of the reports and resolutions of the 29th Zionist Congress held in 1978. This study complements the volume, also issued by IPS, which contains the proceedings of the conference (translated from Hebrew). In the introduction, the author investigates the main currents, conflicts, and developments witnessed by successive Zionist Congresses from the first Congress held in Basle in 1897 to the 28th Congress held in 1972. The volume goes on to discuss the proceedings of the 29th Congress, examining the main issues dealt within the reports presented by the 13 subcommittees and agencies of the World Zionist Organization, the sessions of the Congress, its resolutions, and the composition of its executive committee.
